Earl Charles Craig III

Earl was born on July 27, 1948 in Bloomington. He was the first child of Earl Jr. and Marilyn Stone Craig. He married Karen Jo Shipley on August 24, 1974.

He is survived by his wife, his children Andrew and Haley (Tom Schenk) Craig; his father; his brothers Gary and Steven (Lori) Craig and his sister Lori Reed. He is also survived by his nieces, Debbie (Shawn) Taylor and Kristi (Jason) Polin; his nephews, Brent Shipley and Evan and Jordan Craig. He was preceded in death by his mother and his grandparents.

Earl graduated from Normal Community High School in 1966. He was in the Air Force for four years and played in the Air Force band. He attended ISU where he and Karen met.

He recently retired from State Farm Insurance Company after 42 years of service. Earl loved his family and was excited to see it start growing. He will forever be missed but his family finds comfort in knowing he is at peace. His visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, February 8, 2018 at East Lawn Funeral Home, Bloomington. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 9, 2018 at East Lawn Funeral Home, Bloomington. Burial will follow in East Lawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be his son Andrew Craig, his brother, Steven Craig, his brother-in-law, Bill Shipley, his nephews Brent Shipley and Evan Craig, and his daughter’s fiancé Tom Schenk. Honorary pallbearer is his brother, Gary Craig. The family would like to thank the staff of the Adult Surgical Heart Unit at Advocate Christ Medical Center.
