

On Dec. 29, 1960, he married Grace Pearl Fears-Fisher and celebrated 55 years of marriage. Over the course of his life, Floyd worked as a carpenter with the Local Union 63, and as a Sports Attendant for Illinois State University. In his free time Floyd enjoyed camping, boating, fishing, gardening and everything to do with the outdoors. Floyd was a caring, generous man and would go out of his way to help anyone.
Floyd is survived by his loving wife Grace, of Bloomington, seven children, Carolyn Bonds-Drayton of Bloomington, Debra Bonds-Robinson of East Chicago, IN, Gayle Lynn Fisher-Caldwell of Detroit, MI, Gwendolyn (Caleb) K. Fisher-Thompson of Bloomington, Floyd James Bonds, Jr. of Corpus Christi, TX, Frances (Jerome) Jo -Helen Bonds-Maddox of Bloomington, Clifford (Diana) William Bonds of Bishop, GA, 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 6 great great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents Alonzo and Nevada, as well as his siblings Andrew James, Elmer James, Mary James, Claude James, Arthur James, Ted James, Sylvester James, and Helen James-Marrow.
A visitation for Floyd will be held at East Lawn Funeral Home, 1102 Airport Rd, Bloomington on Fri. March 11 from 4 pm to 7 pm. A funeral service will be held the following day at Wayman A.M.E. Church, 803 W. Olive, Bloomington. A visitation will take place at 9 am with service to follow at 9:30 am. Services will be officiated by Pastor Charles Orr. Entombment at East Lawn Memorial Gardens will take place immediately following.
