

His graveside funeral will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday August 16th at East Lawn Memorial Gardens with Pr. Stephanie Soon officiating. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to VFW Post #454, Bloomington.
He was born December 28th, 1923 in Bloomington, son of Harry Minor Barnes and Eva Grace Phillips Barnes.
He married Louise Estes in 1975. She preceded him in death in 2013. One daughter, Lana Sue Stiers, also preceded him in death.
Survivors include his sister, Mary Dearing, Indianapolis, Indiana; Three children Fred (Sandy) Barnes, Bloomington; Chuck (Jeanette) Branham, Bloomington; Dixie (Delmar) Buss, Lawndale; five stepsons and grandchildren and great grandchildren. Harry also leaves behind his long time friend and caregiver, Cindy Shelton, who made it possible for him to be at home.
He was a WWII veteran, serving with the U.S. Army in Germany and France. He was awarded the Purple Heart along with many other service awards.
Harry retired from Champion Federal and he especially enjoyed boating, camping, and watching the Chicago Cubs.
Arrangements are under the direction of East Lawn Memorial Gardens.
