There will be no services or visitation at this time. East Lawn Funeral Home is assisting the family with cremation rites.

He was born June 11, 1933 in Normal, son of Miles and Opal Rich Armstrong. He married Geraldine Anne Peasley on July 12, 1953.
Surviving are his wife, Jerry, Normal; three sons, Steven (Becky) of Huntley, Rex (Cynthia) of Bloomington and Patrick (Chris) of Normal. Also surviving are four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
Jim was a United States Army Veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict. He was also a member of the Carl S. Martin American Legion Post #635, Normal.
He retired after 30 years from Illinois State University, where he last worked in building services.
Jim also was a member of the Central Illinois Woodworkers Club and Grace United Methodist Church, Bloomington.
