

James was born on October 19, 1940 to James Frank and Rena Ann (Fulkerson) Burden. On July 28, 1962, he married the love of his life Patricia Ann Terrell, together they shared 62 years.
James worked as an Operating Engineer for Local 649 for many years. He loved gardening and sharing with everyone his tomatoes and cucumbers that he grew. James was proud to live and raise his family in Shirley, and everyone knew it. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Bloomington, enjoyed fishing, country music, mud drags, and his grandchildren where the light of his life. He could do anything from mechanical to carpentry work. James was always willing to help others at anytime.
James leaves to remember his memory; wife Patricia Burden (Shirley); children Star Lynn (Michael) Ivey(Shirley), Chastity Lynn (David) Jacob(Shirley); grandchildren Dillon (Shelly) Ivey(Heyworth), Stone Ivey(Shirley), Lyndi (Max) Bozman(Bloomington), James (Sandra) Jacob(Shirley), 3 great grandchildren; siblings Jean Gordon(Bloomington), Jane (Freddie) McWhorter(Bloomington), Thomas Burden(Owensboro, KY); Sister - in - laws Joy Longnecker(Atlanta), Jill Burden(Waynesville); brother in law Larry (Sherry) Terrell (Hoopeston), Russell Terrell(Bloomington); a host of loving nieces and nephews.
He is preceded by; parents, one great grandchild; Sisters Barbara (T) Flener, Judy (Jack)Godward, Joyce (Ronnie) Pharris, Brother Ronnie Burden, brother-in-law Melvin Gordon, James (Dorthea) Terrell, and his fury companion Kane.
Service for James will be held 11am on April 5,2025 at Shirley Christian Church.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of East Lawn Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens.
