

Joseph Walter Januzik passed away peacefully at the age of 103 surrounded by his loving family on May 16, 2026 at Luther Oaks Tapestry unit. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on July 11,1922, the son of Walter Joseph Januzik and Alice (Thompson) Januzik.
He is survived by his wife of 76 years, Bertha F. Konwinski, his daughters, Christine Craig and Gale (Jeff) Minikel, his sons, Scott (Linda) and Robert (Florence). Joe has seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters and a grandson.
During World War II Joe served as a United States Navy Fighter Pilot. Following the war, he continued his service in the Reserves at Glenview Naval Air Station until 1958. He was a Plank holder of the Goode Shippe Aircraft Carrier USS Franklin D. Roosevelt. Joe graduated from Purdue University with a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering on the GI Bill. He retired in 1984 after 40 years of service with Teletype Corporation and later from AT&T as a Senior Staff Engineer. He was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Peoria, IL.
