Mabel Gladys Houchens, 88, of Ellsworth, passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington. She was born on October 10, 1936 in Bloomington, a daughter of Phillip Ralph Park and Mabel (Meeks) Park. Mabel married Guy Houchens in September,1955. He preceded her in death.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Lisa Smith; and her sister, Phyllis Granacher.
Mabel is survived by two children, Leslie Houchens of Bloomington and Rory Houchens of Ellsworth; and one grandson, Jeffrey Smith.
She was a graduate of Octavia High School, Class of 1954.
Mabel loved sewing, knitting, walking, and gardening. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family, giving her much joy.
Cremation has been entrusted to the East Lawn Funeral Home in Bloomington.
