Mary Ellen Embry

She was born July 23, 1946 in Belleville, IL, daughter of Kenneth and Gertrude Aileen Ethington Schertz. She married David Arthur Embry on July 16, 1965.

Surviving are her husband, David of Bloomington; four children, Kelly Zimmerman, Betsy Embry, Charlotte Harries and David A. Embry Jr, all of Bloomington. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren and one sister, Betty Petropoul of Odell.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers and one sister.

Mary Ellen first worked at Roland's Department Store and later retired from Vuteq Corporation in 2016.

She liked to collect Avon perfume dolls and enjoyed primitive camping with her family, where she learned to shoot muzzleloaders and throw tomahawks. Mary Ellen loved to cook for her family, especially for holiday meals. She will be fondly remembered by her family for her "annual" lasagna dinner on New Year's Eve. Her greatest enjoyment came from spending time with and caring for her family.

There will be no services at this time. Cremation rites have been accorded by East Lawn Funeral Home, Bloomington.
