Michelle Stauffer

Born on March 1st of 1963 in Cincinnati, OH. Michelle is the daughter of Merle and Grace Jackson. She grew up in Towanda, IL. Michelle attended and graduated from the Mennonite College of Nursing, Class of 1986 at Illinois State University. After graduation Michelle carried out her lifelong commitment caring for others as a compassionate nurse.

Michelle enjoyed her career as a nurse and when she was not bedside tending to a patient, she enjoyed playing cards, shopping, traveling, and country music. Michelle adored animals, especially dogs, and cared deeply for all of the pets who touched her heart.

Michelle's greatest joy was spending time with family and friends. She was a loving mother, offering encouragement, support and unconditional love. She was a caring sister, and a devoted aunt of many nieces and nephews. Above all, she was a proud and doting grandma of her grandchildren.

She is survived by her three children Jessica (Joseph) Giesel, Eric (Michelle) Stauffer, and Amanda Stauffer, siblings Melissa "Lisa" Jackson Matheny (Tom Blan), Dan (Jamie) Jackson, and Kurt Jackson, sister in-law Cecilila Shaffer, former husband David Stauffer and her beloved grandchildren Sean and Ben Giesel, Caroline and Cole Stauffer.

Michelle was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Kelsey Stauffer, brother Glenn Shaffer, and sister in-law Vicky Jackson.

Known for her free spirited personality, determination, kindness, and social nature she will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

A Celebration of Life will be held in her honor on June 27, 2026 visitation 3:30pm to 4pm service to follow at 4pm at East Lawn Funeral Home 1102 Airport Rd, Bloomington, IL 61704.
