Dick was born November 19, 1939 in Princeton, IL, son of William "Bill" and Henrietta "Etta" Moerdick Harrison. On August 27, 1961, he married the love of his life, Yvonne Jackson, in Dover, IL. Together they shared more than six decades of marriage, building a life rooted in faith and family. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, William (Joan) Harrison of Minier, IL and Todd (Chris) Harrison of Waleska, GA; four grandchildren, Cori (Ryan) Malone, Shane (Hannah) Harrison, Adam (Katie Edwards) Harrison, and Kaitlynn (Hayden) Scott; and four great-grandchildren, Ada Malone, Colton & Ellie Harrison, and McKenna Scott, who were a constant source of joy and pride in his life.
Dick graduated from Malden High School and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Chemistry from Western Illinois University in June of 1961. He dedicated his professional life to State Farm Insurance, where he worked faithfully from 1961 until his retirement in 2002. His strong work ethic, integrity, and quiet dedication were hallmarks of both his career and his character.
Outside of work, Dick was an avid golfer who cherished time on the course, whether for the game itself or the camaraderie it brought. He loved settling in to watch classic westerns, especially Gunsmoke and The Lone Ranger. Above all else, Dick loved his family deeply. His marriage to Yvonne was the foundation of his life, and he took immense pride in his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, rarely missing an opportunity to talk about their accomplishments and milestones.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the nursing staff at The Loft in Normal for the exceptional care, kindness, and love they showed Dick during the last five months of his life.
