

Dennis H. Polley, age 84, of Bloomington, died Wednesday morning at the Garden Villa in Bedford. Born March 15, 1930 in Monroe County, Indiana, he was the son of Claude S. and Elsie Mae (Hacker) Polley. Handicapped since birth, as a child he loved hauling things in his wheelbarrow. He also developed a love for cars, but was never able to own one. He had an enjoyable but limited childhood, being able to spend much time with all his family members. He was a big part of the Polley family in his formative years. Dennis was placed in a hospital setting after the death of his mother in 1958 and later lived in group homes in both Spencer and Mitchell. Dennis took much pride in looking nice and always being well dressed. He also believed in the power of prayer.
He is survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law; William Ray and Mary Ann Polley, of Bloomington and Kenneth Lee and Evelyn Polley, of Franklin, Indiana; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Martha Belle Young, of Unionville, Joann and Herb Scroggins, of Bloomington, Patsy Lucille Poling, of Unionville and Phyllis Mae and David Kleindorfer, of Unionville; two sisters-in-law, Erma Polley, of Bloomington and Rosie Polley, of New Zealand and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Harry Earl Polley, in 1932, Samuel Polley, in 1994, Austin Eugene Polley, in 2006 and Russell Hubert Polley, in 2006.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday (12/6) at 1:00 p.m. at the Deremiah-Frye Mortuary, Greene and Harrell Chapel; 700 W. Gourley Pike with Rev. Roger Helton officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Gilead Cemetery. Friends may visit the family on Friday (12/5) from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
