OBITUARY
Doyle "Pete" Lee Taylor
2 July, 1931 – 14 March, 2018
Doyle “Pete” Lee Taylor, 86, of Bloomington died Wednesday, March 14, 2018 in Monroe Hospital. He was born July 2, 1931 in Jackson County to Virgil Taylor and Hazel Tate Taylor. Pete was a carpenter and was retired from Indiana University.
Survivors include his daughter, Annette Palmer of Bloomington; his companion, Carolyn Cowden of Bloomington; two brothers, James (Ellen) Taylor and Roger (Betty) Taylor all of Bloomington; a sister, Sheryl “Sherrie” Garlish of Bloomington; two grandsons, Brandon Palmer and J. D. Palmer both of Bloomington and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Wanda Lois Taylor; a daughter, Debbie Taylor; two sisters, Wilma Hardy and Thelma Allgood; and a brother, Dale Taylor.
Pete was a member of Northside Christian Church, and he loved attending gospel sings and going to festivals. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1951- 1953 and was a longtime volunteer fire fighter with Perry Township Volunteer Fire Department where he had won many awards.
There will be a gathering of family and friends on Friday, March 16, 2018 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM in Deremiah-Frye Mortuary Greene & Harrell Chapel, 700 W. Gourley Pike. Funeral Services are scheduled for Friday at 1:00 PM with Pastor Steve Baker officiating, burial will follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens.
