

Gloria Dunn Westfall passed away on November 8, 2012. Gloria was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana on September 1, 1925, and grew up in Crafton, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Mount Holyoke College in 1947. While working at the American Embassy in London, she met her future husband, Richard S. (Sam) Westfall, and they were married in 1952. She and Sam lived in Iowa City, Iowa, Grinnell, Iowa, and Cambridge, England, before moving to Bloomington in 1963. Gloria worked as a reference librarian at the IU Library until her retirement.
Gloria loved hiking, wildflowers, travel abroad, and all things French. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church. She was also active in the League of Women Voters.
Gloria is survived by her three children, Al (Cindy) of South Bend, Indiana, Jennifer (John) of Arlington, Virginia, and Kristin of Stamford, Connecticut. She is also survived by her three grandsons, John & Brian McGrail and Kevin Westfall, and a great-granddaughter, Paige Craig. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam, and by a granddaughter, Laura Craig.
A memorial service celebrating Gloria’s life will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, 221 East 6th Street, Bloomington, Indiana on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at 2:00pm. Contributions in her memory may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, or to the Mount Holyoke College Alumnae Fund, 50 College Street, South Hadley, MA 01075.
