Jackie Lee “Jack the Barber” Morris, age 80, of Bloomington, died Tuesday afternoon at I.U. Health; Bloomington Hospital. Born January 21, 1934 in Bloomington, he was the son of Roscoe and Marguerite (Vint) Morris Reveal. He had worked as a barber for the former Wampler’s Barber Shop underneath Tovey’s Shoe Store on the downtown square prior to going to work at R.C.A., where he retired as a group leader. He then became a barber at Ryan’s Barber Shop on N. Walnut St. He was an avid bicyclist and later enjoyed riding motorcycles. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a member of the Highland Village Church. He loved animals of all sorts.
He is survived by his loving wife, Kathy (Wilber) Osborn Morris, of Bloomington; his son, John Robert Morris, of Denver, Colorado; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert A. and Corrine Morris, of Sun City West, Arizona and a niece, Anita Tenney, of Boerne, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Jimmy Morris and one nephew, Teddy Morris.
The funeral service will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Tuesday (1/6) at the Highland Village Church with Pastor B. Andrew King officiating. Burial will follow the service at Methodist Cemetery where the Monroe County Veterans Honor Guard will perform military rites. Friends may visit the family on Tuesday at the church from 11:30 A.M. to 1:30 P.M.
