Obituary of Veronica "Ronnie" Jean (Gull) Jachim
Veronica Jean Gull Jachim "Ronnie", 77, of Bloomington passed away on Monday May 27, 2019 at IU Health Hospice House surrounded by her loving family. Veronica was born on February 21, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois. She was the daughter of Eleanore (Adrian) and Edward Gull. Veronica grew up in Michigan City, IN. She graduated from Rosary College (now Domican University) in River Forest, IL. Upon graduation, Veronica became the LaPorte County Probation Officer. On November 27, 1965 she married Joseph A. Jachim, son of Stella (Regula) and Edward J. Jachim of New Buffalo, MI. Upon honorable discharge from the Air Force, Ronnie and Joe moved to Bloomington, IN. She had many different career choices from running KinderCare on the east side to working retail at several department stores. She finally settled down and retired from being a secretary for State Farm Agents, Mark Goodson and Henry Wichman in Ellettsville. Family and faith were very important to Veronica. She and her husband raised two sons (Joe and Matt) here in Bloomington. She was a dedicated mother. She supported her boys by being PTO president, a room mom, and supporting their activities as they grew up. In May 1973, Veronica and her family survived a tornado that hit Bloomington and destroyed many homes. They were founding members of St. John's Catholic Church, where they were active members. Veronica was the wedding coordinator for the church, as well as president of the Women's Club. She chaired the St. John's Craft Show for several years, which helped bring in funds to support many of the church's ongoing programs. Veronica loved paper crafting on her cricket. She made items and had her own booth at the craft shows. She always made holiday goodies for the Grateful Hearts Soup Kitchen and the IU Students at St. Paul's Catholic Center. On of her designs, a 4th of July Gazebo and Uncle Sam design is copyrighted at Jennifer Maker My Scrap Chic. One of her other talents was sewing. She enjoyed making scrub caps for any doctor that she or her husband had to see. She also catered events for both for the church and for friends. Veronica and Joe loved to vacation in Hilton Head Island, SC which they had done for the past 40 years and began spending the winters therefor the past 20 years. Her children and their families would often spend spring breaks with her and create many happy memories. They were very active at Holy Family Catholic Church, and worked the Grateful Hearts Soup Kitchen weekly. As the family grew, Veronica spent time enjoying her grandchildren, and attending events that they were all involved in (swimming, ice skating, baseball, and FFA/4H). Veronica is survived by her husband Joseph A. Jachim, her sons: Joseph E. Jachim (Stephanie) of Bloomington, IN and Matthew A. Jachim (Jennifer) of South Bend, IN, and seven grandchildren: Joshua, Peter, Nicholas, Clare, Mary, Molly, and Katie. She was preceded in death by her mother and father Eleanor and Edward Jachim; as well as her mother-in-law and father-in-law Stella and Edward Jachim. Veronica was one of the most outgoing people you could have ever known. She would do anything for anyone! She had a beautiful soul and was a wonderful role model for her family and friends. She was the greatest story teller of life's greatest moments in our family. She used her creative talents to make others feel special.
