

Virgil Dale Taylor, Jr. 76, passed quietly into Heaven’s arms on Thursday, July 30, 2015 at 9:50 a.m. Dale was born to the loving family of Virgil and Sylvia Hazel (Tate) Taylor on July 7, 1939 in Jackson County, Indiana.
Dale graduated from Smithville High School in May 1957. In 1959, Dale married his sweetheart, Sherry and they shared 56 years together.
Dale retired from the Bloomington City Fire Department after 40 years of service. He also was a school bus driver for MCCSC on his days off from the fire department. His hobbies included repairing John Deere mowers and tractors, going to auctions, and he was an avid mushroom hunter. He was a member of the Clear Creek Christian Church. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Dale is survived by his wife Sherry Cain Taylor; his son, Tracy Dale Taylor; sister, Sheryl Garlisch, brothers, Doyle “Pete” Taylor, Jim Taylor, and Roger Taylor; and many extended family members.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and daughter, Marlisa Lane Taylor (June 1988), and sisters, Thelma Allgood and Wilma Hardy.
Funeral services to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 3, 2015 at Deremiah-Frye Mortuary Greene & Harrell Chapel, officiated by Army Reserve Chaplain Greg Clark and Pastor Harold Godsey. The City of Bloomington Fire Department Honor Guard will be in attendance. Interment will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, August 2, 2015 at Deremiah-Frye Mortuary Greene & Harrell Chapel, 700 West Gourley Pike.
