Charles “Billy” Staudenmaier of Boca Raton, FL entered into eternal rest on Monday October 11, 2021 after a brief illness. Billy is survived by his loving and dedicated wife Mary Ann Elizabeth (Fucigna) of 52 years, as well as his Sister, Barbara Nolan (Staudenmaier) of Colorado Springs, CO and numerous nephews, nieces and grand nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by both his parents, William Charles Staudenmaier and Margaret Staudenmaier.
Billy was born on Feb 22, 1932 in Brooklyn, NY where he enjoyed life with his sister and parents before enlisting in 1949, at the beginning of the Korean War. He spent his four years with the US Army stationed in Germany, where he clearly honed his love of beer. After returning to the states, he worked in sales with the McCormick Spice Company and Pabst Blue Ribbon. It would be years before Bill found his true calling and joined the NYPD and was appointed as a Police Officer on October 14, 1963. Billy served the City of New York for 26 years before retiring as a member of The Warrant Section on December 1, 1989. He was involved with several professional organizations while serving as a Police Officer, including the NYPD Steuben Association, where he would eventually become President, and the 10-13 Palm Beach chapter. Bill was also very involved with his local church, St Jude Catholic Church, in Boca Raton, FL where he was a longstanding member of the Knights of Columbus and achieved the status of Grand Knight; the Sunshine Airedalers of Florida canine rescue club, through which he adopted several beloved Airedales; and other clubs and organizations.
Billy married Mary Ann on November 9, 1968, and they enjoyed many years together in Bayside, Queens, NY before deciding to retire and move to Boca Raton FL. Mary Ann was employed for over 40 years with Pan American Airlines, until her retirement. They both loved to travel the globe, and some of their fondest memories were traveling with family.
Bill’s affection for life, love and laughter with Mary Ann, his sister Barbara and all his nieces and nephews made “Uncle Billy” a favorite to many if not all. It would be hard not to find Billy, along with his local “10-23” call teams, having lunch or dinner, enjoying card games, taking in shows, or just enjoying each others’ company.
In lieu of flowers donations to Sunshine Airedaleres of Florida, Rescue Organization would be appreciated.
