Diane Csutoros

With family by her side, our loving mother passed away February 18, 2021 at the age of 88 in Boca Raton, FL. Diane was born on January 11, 1933 in Huntington Park, CA. Left to cherish the memories of her life are her children, daughter Dana Lee Csutoros, and son Steven William Csutoros, wife Debbie, and her two grandchildren, Rachel and Nicole. Diane was preceded in death by her parents, George and Dorothy Welshymer; brother, Dean Welshymer; and loving husband, Steven Anthony Csutoros.

Steve and Diane were married August 22, 1953 in Elmhurst, IL, and lived in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, where they each started their careers in education and began their family. After a very cold winter, they decided to head to a warmer climate and chose Palm Beach County as their home, working in education with the Palm Beach County School System. They first settled in North Palm Beach, then moved on to Boca Raton, where they loved living for 50 years.

While in North Palm Beach, Diane was the PTA president when her children were at Allamanda Elementary School. She was also a Girl Scout leader for many years, and was the Webelo leader of 8 boys. She often said leading 20 plus girls was so much easier than 8 little boys, even when taking the girls to Camp Welaka many times.

After arriving in Boca Raton, Diane worked with many children at Addison Mizner and tutored numerous students with the foreign exchange program through IBM. Diane and Steve were a great team together and promoted all endeavors at Boca Raton High School, where Steve served as a Community School Director, Assistant Principal, Athletic Director, Teacher and Coach. They supported everything from Sports to Proms to Mentoring, and had an “open door” policy for all at the Csutoros home.

Diane’s proudest moment for her husband, family and community came on October 31, 2008 when the newest Boca Raton High School Football field was dedicated posthumously to her husband, Steve, for his leadership in securing funding with the community and school system for new the athletic fields in the mid-1970s when I-95 went through the property. Diane always felt this tribute created a legacy not only to the family but to the community they served.

Diane had little patience for mediocrity. In everything she touched, excellence was woven throughout the fabric of this amazing women’s life. Everyone saw it with the way she lived as a great wife, mother, grandma, and friend to all she met and shared her wisdom with many. She was an outstanding cook, enjoyed cards with friends, traveling with family and friends, and most of all, loved living life. She will be missed by many.

Due to Covid protocols, flowers are not allowed, so we ask “In Lieu of Flowers” you consider a donation in Diane’s honor to the “League of Ribbons,” part of the Boca Raton Regional Hospital Foundation. The League of Ribbons helps patients going through cancer treatments with hand/foot massages, gas cards, Publix cards and other services, which is truly a blessing. A service will be held on May 7, 2021, 2:30 pm, at the South Florida National Cemetery.
