Edward was born on April 9, 1941, to Charles Hoffman and Jeanette Borrello, both of whom preceded him in death. He spent most of his life in Brooklyn, New York, and fondly remembered his time in Staten Island and Pennsylvania, where he shared many special memories with his family and friends, before spending his later years in Florida.
Growing up, Edward shared many memorable fishing trips with his brother, Robert “Bob” Hoffman, and cherished visits with his sister, Jeanette, and her family upstate. His cousins were also a meaningful presence throughout his childhood and adult life.
Edward was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Joan (Nagel) Hoffman. Together, they owned an antique store and loved traveling the world. Earlier in his career, he owned a collision shop and worked for Gaines and Plaza Oldsmobile. Edward had a lifelong passion for old cars, antiques, oldies and rock music, and he was a loyal fan of the New York Mets and the New York Jets. He also loved collecting postcards, stamps, coins, and other keepsakes.
He was preceded in death by his brother Robert Hoffman, his sister-in-law Barbara Hoffman, his wife Joan Hoffman, and his son Anthony Hoffman.
Edward is survived by his loving daughters, Donna D’Ambrosio and Denise Hoffman, as well as his sister Jeanette Caruso and her husband Ralph Caruso. He was a proud grandfather to Danielle Benvenuto (and her husband Nick), Kim D’Ambrosio-Fulti (and her husband James), and Emily D’Ambrosio. His beloved great-grandchildren—Lily, Lucas, Nicholas, Gia, and Danielle— will always carry his love with them. He is also survived by his many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Eddie will be remembered for his stories and the love he shared with his family, which will live on in their hearts forever.
