

Blank, George William, born December 8, 1920 in Philadelphia PA, passed away peacefully in Boca Raton on September 3, 2010 surrounded by his loved ones. George had a long and illustrious military career, as an Army bomber pilot in WWII, a troop carrier pilot in Korea, and joined the Air Force Office of Special Investigations in 1957, advanced to District Command in Bangkok, Thailand and McGuire AFB, NJ. With 31 years service and many military decorations Lt. Colonel Blank and wife Betty retired to their dream home in the Boca Raton they fell in love with during radar training at Boca Army Airfield in 1944. George, most often with Betty by his side, was an involved citizen, taking an active part and often leading the Coast Guard Auxiliary, the Boca Airport Authority, the Navy League, the Golden Harbor Yacht Club, Bel Marra Homeowners Association and many civic organization's helping to guide growth in Boca Raton. George was predeceased by his wife Betty, his son, Russell and his sister Virginia Clynes. He is survived by his loving companion Luella Powell, sister Lorraine Blank, and five children; George Blank III (Linda), Richard Blank (Ruth), Robert Blank (Anne), Kathy Horvath (Rick) and Nancy Lasko. Also, nine grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren, all of whom joined him for a family reunion in Tennessee in June this year.
