"A Life Rooted in Love"
It is with profound love and heavy-hearts, the family of Lydia de los Angeles Leiton Rodriguez announces her peaceful passing on May 2, 2026, at the age of 94. A devoted matriarch, cherished friend, and warm presence to all who knew her, Lydia called Boca Raton, Florida home, where she left an indelible mark on the lives of everyone she welcomed into her heart.
Born on October 23, 1931 in San Jose, Costa Rica, Lydia lived a life defined by humility, hard work, and dedication to family. In her earlier years in Puerto Rico, she owned and operated a flower shop, bringing beauty and joy to her community. Upon coming to the United States, she owned and operated a children's day care for 45 remarkable years, nurturing generations of young lives with the same tenderness she so freely gave her own family.
Lydia was a woman of abundant faith. It was that faith that anchored her wisdom, advice, compassion for others, and her generous and loving spirit. She was known throughout her life for her gift of hospitality — her door was always open, her table always full, and no one who entered her home ever left feeling anything less than completely welcome. Her cooking was delicious, a labor of love that friends and family speak of with delight to this day. Those who loved her also cherish the memory of her poignant humor — a wit that was perfectly timed, deeply her own, and a reminder that joy was never far from her side.
In the quiet moments, Lydia's hands and heart were never idle. She found peace in crocheting, joy in her cherished Bible, flowers and gardening, and a lifelong elegance that never wavered — those who knew her fondly recall that even in her latter years, she would never step outside without first putting on her lipstick, a small and telling reflection of the grace and dignity she carried every single day.
Above all else, her greatest happiness was her family gathered around her — she filled their childhood with stories of her youth and life, a living treasure of memory and heritage passed lovingly from one generation to the next.
Lydia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Salvador V. Rodriguez. She is survived by her children, Jeanne (David), Isabel, Salvador (Debra), and William (Kathleen); her grandchildren, Yari (Jeff) and Kristina; her sister, Margarita; and a boundless circle of family and friends whose lives are forever richer for having known her.
In keeping with her wishes, Lydia was cremated and will be laid to rest at the South Florida National Cemetery, Lake Worth, Florida.
May she rest in the eternal peace she so graciously gave to others.
"May her memory be a blessing."
