Peter Coughlin died peacefully at his home in Boca Raton, Florida, on March 15, 2024. Born September 24, 1958 in Bootle, Merseyside, England, Peter was a beloved father, a lifelong knowledge seeker, and a proud Liverpudlian.
Peter grew up in Liverpool, England one of nine siblings. He studied electronics in technical school and upon graduating, boarded a Carnival cruise ship and applied his knowledge as a casino slot machine technician where he worked for several years until landing at the port of Miami and calling South Florida home for the next 44 years of his life.
Peter was known for his sense of humor and wit. He knew the importance of being kind, courteous, and never taking life too seriously. He loved tinkering with all things electronic and was known for his abilities to fix things and solve technical problems. He began working for Broward Health Imperial Point in 1982 in facilities management and devoted the rest of his 43 years as a master service mechanic and fire safety officer. Peter made many friends along the way and will be remembered by so many lives he touched.
Peter loved music, books, and movies and was a lifelong learner. He possessed a wealth of knowledge on English history, inventions, and folklore and would often share a fact with you in conversation. He loved model airplanes and was a licensed model pilot through the Association of Model Aeronautics. Peter was proud to reduce his environmental impact, and powered his home mostly through solar energy, which, of course, he built and hooked up himself. But anyone who knew Peter would say he was most passionate about his Liverpool Football Club. YNWA Peter.
Peter Coughlin is survived by his three children, Emily Coughlin, Elizabeth (Liz) Coughlin, and Arthur Coughlin. They only wish to spread as much laughter and love as their Dad did. He is also survived by siblings Margaret, Mary, Richard, Maureen, Susan, and Michael, his niece Emma, and more loving family in England.
