Hey Uncle Pete,

I can't believe I am  sitting here typing this to you right now knowing I won't see you for a very long time.  Heart broken is an understatement and this family will never be the same.

I could sit here and type for days about the time we spent together, laughs we had, and the love and kindness you've showed to myself and anyone around you. 

You were my Godfather and you treated me like a son, for that I cannot thank you enough.   I will not say goodbye because I know in my heart I will see you again.

Big Pete,
I’ve been trying to find the right words to write to ensure anyone who read this would understand the love and affection my family and I have for you, but I’m not sure that’s possible. You were more like an Uncle to me and I will always cherish the knowledge and wisdom you have shared with me throughout the years. Lately I’ve looked forward to your visits from Florida because I would volunteer to pick you up from the airport which would allow us to spend precious time together that I will always cherish.  My Children adored you and would always look forward to seeing Uncle Peter when you would visit from Florida. I know you will always be with us, as illustrated by my children last week when they were saying hi to Uncle Peter while driving. I asked them where you were and they said Daddy that butterfly is Uncle Peter, and he’s watching over us. You will be greatly missed but never forgotten. Until we meet Again.

From Being Friends with his youngest , Valaire and Peter  for over 15 Years, I always Felt So Welcome to be in his Company. I recall Valaire's College Graduation Party, at the BBQ and His Beloved Oriental Plaza, on Peter's Trips back to Staten Island. I Stopped by to see everyone that evening. I'll Keep that night in my head of how everyone Should Remember Peter,  enjoying his company around the table! May God give them the Peace and Strength to  move forward. Uncle Pete, 
I still can't comprehend that you are gone.  Seems like a bad dream.  One I don't want to remember.   What I do want to remember is my summers staying in your house on Staten Island.  Waking up in your basement and walking upstairs.  You would be at the table drinking your coffee.  You always knew I would want the sports section to the Daily News or NY Post so you wouldn't fight me for them.   You would break my balls about the Giants or Yankees and we would go back and forth.  I will always hold those times close to my heart.   The one thing that no one could argue about you was your love for your wife and children.  I only hope I can match that love and affection for mine.  I love you and will see you again.  Give grandma and grandpa a kiss for me :)

Your smile could light up a room! You were always so welcoming and loved to have a good laugh. I’ll never forget how you would tell me to go put sunblock on somewhere else because if I was too close it would interfere with your tan, we had a good laugh at that one. You were truly one of a kind. Your laughter, smile, warmth, and love was felt by everyone who knew you. You are very missed ❤️

If I had to use only two words to describe you, it would be “family man”. Your wife and kids were everything to you and that couldn’t be more evident. You were such a loyal husband and father to your family. I will never forget the summers we spent at your house in Staten Island. You were always so welcoming and warm to everyone and we’re always good for some classic stories of the family laughs. The memories we’ve shared with you will live on forever!  

For those who knew Peter you would know how hard it is to say goodbye to him.  For those who didn’t know him I will try to describe him to you a little.  He was an old soul to say the least.  Probally should of been born a generation earlier.   From the cars he drove ( usually a new Cadillac) or the music he listened to ( oldies and doo-wop ) to his jewelry ( Pinky ring) to his extreme love of family.  Because if you wronged or harmed anyone of us you wronged and harmed Peter.   He would protect you to the end!   He had an enormous heart that was filled with love for his family.   His wife June and kids Peter and Valerie were his world.  He was a simple guy who didn’t need anything fancy.  We did share a love for desserts as on most holidays we would laugh about just waiting for them to come out as everyone else was too busy over eating to enjoy it.  He was taken from us way too soon and I am still trying to understand that,  but I will always have you in my heart.  Until we meet again.

As I was scrolling through some of my old photos searching for ones with Pete in them I thought to myself as I looked back into the past I thought wow what a wonderful life it truly is for all of us to look back at memories and cherish them for in that moment we don’t realize the memory we are creating for a lifetime. I am heartbroken. You were like a second dad to me and all my great memories of you could never be put into words.  I had so many good times with you, especially in New York. I’ll always remember waking up at your house to your delicious cooking. I laugh when I think about you vacuuming around me while I was sleeping to see if you could wake me up.

You were a great husband and father. An all around wonderful family guy. Your calm demeanor is what made you you. I cannot imagine life without you but i know you’ll always watch over us.

Dear Big Pete,

I will never forget all the good times we had in your backyard in Hamden Ave. Your backyard was the first time I have ever met your family along with grandma Joan and Aunt Kathy for Valerie’s graduation. That day you welcome me in with open arms into the family and continued to do so with my own children. I will miss our nights at the plaza when you would come up to Florida enjoying a drink together while you told stories and we would all laugh. My kids are going to miss you so much but they just gained another angel to continue watching all of us. We will all miss you big Pete until we meet again.

I will always remember growing up we would visit new york and spend many summers all of us together in your home. Peter DiBetta possessed qualities that we don’t see often enough in today’s society, and that was his role as head of his family. There was never a doubt that Peter’s first priority was his wife and children.  He was a devoted husband and a loving father. His marriage to his wife June was one to be admired. I had the privilege of watching his children grow into respectful adults that adored their father. He worked very hard to provide a good life for his family, but never at the expense of being there for them. I will always remember his warm smile and calm demeanor.  My favorite memories of Peter include many beautiful family gatherings and holidays. I will also never forget him waving from his work truck as he drove by my bus stop each morning on the way to the Staten Island  Ferry. You will be missed big Pete. Rest in peace.

I want to Express my deepest condolences to The DiBetta family. I first met Peter DiBetta when me and his son became friends in 2002. To know Peter is to love Peter. He was an amazing family man and father. Everyone who knew him, loved him. He was always personable ,  friendly, and caring. I've known the DiBetta family for over 20 years and  I have a lot of happy memories being in their company at their house, friendly get togethers and family parties . It is heartbreaking to know that Peter is no longer on this earth and he will be missed dearly. Rest in peace. 🙏
