Born in Naga City, Philippines on June 14, 1934, Dr. Roger Parco one of three children. His mom, Ezequilla, was a housewife and his dad, Juan, was the Treasurer in the province of Laguna, Philippines. He had two sisters; Antonia (a pharmacist) and Ofelia (an accountant).
He attended Manila Central University where he began his medical education and moved to the United States to do his internship and residency at the University of Chicago and St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. He moved back to the Philippines in 1962 and began working in the public health in Olutanga, Zamboanga Del Sur, where he met his wife, Lydia. They were married in 1963 in a province called Pagadian City, Zamboanga De Sur. In 1964, Roger and Lydia decided to move to San Pablo, Zamboanga Del Sur where soon after, their first child, John was born. They had two more children after that; Leilanni was born in 1965 and Louella was born in 1966.
Roger was recruited by the British government to work in British Guyana as a Medical Officer for several years. He moved his family to Nassau, Bahamas and worked as a General Surgeon at Princess Margaret Hospital. The British government sent him to Scotland and Ireland so he can further his training in Neurosurgery. Upon his return back to the Bahamas, he was employed as a Neurosurgeon at the same hospital.
In 1980, his wife Lydia, accepted a position as a Surgical Nurse at Cedars Medical Center, in Miami, Florida. Roger remained in the Bahamas for a few years until he fulfilled his employment contract with Princess Margaret Hospital. He accepted a position as the ship’s Medical Officer on the SeaEscape, a Scandinavian Cruise line that docked nightly in Fort Lauderdale, so he could be closer to his family.
In 2005, Roger retired so he could begin enjoying traveling and spending time with his family and grandkids Logan and Connor.
