

Bill’s family initially lived in Ferndale, MD then moved to Baltimore in 1939 when Bill was six years old. In June 1952, Bill graduated from Thomas A. Edison Vocational School where he had majored in automotive shop. In the fall of 1952 Bill attended basic training at Parris Island, SC. When he completed basic, he was transferred to Camp Lejeune, NC and attended truck driver school. After completing his basic school, he was transferred to Camp Pendleton, CA where he worked at the base motor pool . In October 1953, Bill shipped out aboard the SS Walker, a Merchant Marine ship. When the SS Walker landed in Inchon, South Korea he received orders to Baker Company 7th Motor Transport Battalion, 1st Marine Division, based in Inchon. He performed duty as a truck driver during the day and a mechanic at night servicing the 40 vehicles in his unit. He completed his tour in Korea in October 1954. He was honorably discharged as a Corporal on November 19, 1954.
Bill’s service ribbons include the NDSM, UN Service Medal, Korea Service Medal and the Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation.
In 1995 he joined the VFW Post 7472 in Ellicott City, MD. Over the years he served as Quartermaster.
Bill spent a 45 year career as a truck mechanic, driver and shop mechanic. He retired in April 1999 . Years later he and Dot moved to Florida to be near their daughter, Deb. He continued his VFW membership with the Post 10556. He volunteered at the West Palm Beach Va Medical Center until Covid put a damper on that.
Bill Lost his wife Dot after 61 years together. He is survived by his only child and daughter, Deborah Roman.
A visitation will be held at Babione Funeral Home, located at 10060 Calle Comercio Drive, Boca Raton, Florida, on February 8, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
The committal service is scheduled for February 9, 2026, from 10:30 am to 11:00 am at South Florida National Cemetery, 6501 State Rd 7, Lake Worth, Florida.
