Chad Phelps

Mr. Phelps was born in Brunswick County on June 30, 1935 and was the son of the late Timothy Hendrix Phelps and Mattie Elizabeth Hewett Phelps. Mr. Phelps grew up being a member of Sharon United Methodist Church and following his marriage to Elaine he became a member of Antioch Baptist Church where served as a deacon for many years. He retired from the N.C. Department of Transportation after 35 plus years of employment.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine Brittain Phelps; a son, Jeffrey Phelps of Bolivia; two granddaughters, Kristin Phelps and Megan Jones; ten great grandchildren, Ayden, Justus, Ty, Issak, Easten, Nick, Oaklen, Ethan, Eli and Demaryius; a daughter in-law, Kimberly Phelps of Holden Beach; a special niece, Geraldine Elliott of Holden Beach.

Funeral services will be held Sunday July 11, 2021 at three o'clock in the afternoon at Antioch Baptist Church with reverend Brian Raleigh and Reverend Monroe Cooke officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Joe Cain, Nathan Blake, Megan Jones, Hayes Hawes, Allen Brittain, Tommy Hickman.

Honorary pallbearers will be Glenn Blake, Larry Holden and Greg White.

The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
