Gordon will be remembered for the way he embraced life and took advantage of most that life had to offer. Regardless of his age or his health, he enjoyed working around the house, riding his bike, playing golf, learning a new computer language, and even jumping out of an airplane. In earlier years: learning and becoming a private pilot, downhill skiing, jogging, racquet ball and golf were all a big part of his past times. Friends and family always enjoyed his company, his specialty dinners, his sense of humor, and how he introduced levity into any type of situation.
During his career with computer technology Gordon was employed by Prudential Insurance Company, Kemper Insurance Company, Honeywell Technical Systems, Wagner College, and Oakite Chemicals. He attended and graduated from Seton Hall University in NJ while working and raising his family. He was generous with his time as he served on two rescue squads in NJ for 13 years, was a financial minster for their church in Jackson, NJ, was President of various computer system organizations, as well as, President of two Mens Golf Associations in NJ.
Gordon was ready for another adventure in life when he and his wife, Joyce, moved to Winding River in NC in 2019. He loved his 9 hole golf group, his two days of bridge at the Senior Center and monthly poker games “with the guys’’.
He is survived by his wife Joyce Connelly of 40 years and his 4 children: Gail Joyce Connelly (Pat) of Fitzwilliam, New Hampshire; Alan (Karen) Connelly, Stanhope, New Jersey; Linda Alford (Richard) Hackettstown, New Jersey; and Gordon Bruce Connelly, Jr. (Cyndi) Scottsdale, Arizona.
