Janet Rogers Russell

She was born on May 19, 1935 in Mecklenburg, County, NC and was daughter of the late Charles Edward and Verona Harkey Rogers. Mrs. Russell was a retired nurse (RN) having worked for the Brody School of Medicine and was a long-time member of People's Baptist Church in Greenville, NC.

Survivors include her two sons, John E. Russell, Jr (Julie) of Newport, NC and John Michael Russell (Greta) of Archdale, NC; a daughter, Kimberly "Kim" Mayo (Wayne) of Ocean Isle Beach, NC; brother, Charles Rogers (Barbara) of Hendersonville, NC; two sisters, Betsy Bennett of Columbia, SC and Sylvia Yarborough of Old Salem, NC; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Edward Russell.

A Celebration of Life Graveside Service honoring Mrs. Russell will be held at two o'clock in the afternoon on Friday, April 25, 2025 at the Green Hill Cemetery in Asheville, NC.
