

Mr. Holden was born in Brunswick County on October 19, 1922 and was the son of the late Richard Bartley Holden and Rushia Clemmons Holden. Mr. Holden was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving during World War II. He retired from Babcock and Wilcox of Wilmington. He was a lifetime member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Reynolds Holden, a granddaughter, Lori Holden, brothers and sisters, Wilma O’Quinn, Norman Holden, Dorothy Brown, Mamie Hewitt, Beatrice Varnam, Lucille Russo.
He is survived by two daughters, Doris Tharp (Earl) of Boiling Spring Lakes, Glenda Holden of Shallotte; four grandchildren, Brandon Tharp, Jessica Niedomanski (Ken), Barry Holden (Fran), Jason Holden (Trisha); great grandchildren, Landon, Harper, Kaylee, Savannah, Quinton, Corbett, Roddy; a brother, Lindbergh Holden of Whiteville; a sister, Joyce Robinson of Supply; two sister in-laws, Nelda Hewett of Shallotte, Joan Owens of Holden Beach.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday April 5, 2018 at three o’clock in the afternoon at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church with Reverend Jesse Mooney, Reverend Tex Holden and Reverend Kenneth Benton officiating.
Interment will follow in the Georgetown-Holden Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be, Dwaine Holden, Nicky Varnam, Glenn Holden, Herbie Robinson, Scott Taylor, James Bell.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.
In lieu of customary remembrances the family requests with gratitude that donations be made in his name to the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, 494 Mt. Pisgah Road, Supply, NC 28462.
