Ruth Lenora Kye

Mrs. Kye was born in Bladen County on July 2, 1924 and was daughter of the late Robert Lee Rabon, Sr. and Braddie Magaline Bigford Rabon. She was wife of the late Atta Lee Kye, U.S. Army Retired Master Sargent and was also preceded in death by a grandson, Larry Kye; brother, Robert Lee Rabon, Jr.; son-in-law, E.J. Hollis; two stepsons, Richard Ray Kye and Harvey Lee Kye. She was a charter member and the oldest living member of Peace Memorial Baptist Church of Winnabow. At the age of 74, she retired from Belk Berry of Wilmington after 37 years of employment.

She is survived by two sons, Glenn Kye and wife Kay, Robert L. Kye and wife Annette, all of Winnabow; a daughter, Rachel Kye Hollis of Hampstead; brother, Tom B. Rabon, Sr. and wife Mattie of Winnabow; sister-in-law, Hilda H. Rabon of Winnabow; grandchildren, Timothy W. Kye, Jennifer Gates and husband Don, Jr., Nathan E. Kye and wife Kim, Kimberly L. Hollis, Kevin Hollis and wife Abbey, Shelley Kye; great-grandchildren, Trey Cooke, Alexis Cooke, Mary Gates, Lauren Gates, Ishmael Owens, Cherokee Owens, Ashley Capps, Bradley Capps, Kourtney Burton, and Katelyn Burton.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 30, 2017 at three o’clock in the afternoon at Peace Memorial Baptist Church with Reverend Phil Frady officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Friends are invited to a time of visitation with the family one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests memorials be directed to the Peace Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery fund, 5811 Ocean Hwy. E. Winnabow, N.C. 28479.
