Shirley Elkins Kelly, 87, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2021. Shirley was the last of her generation in the Kelly and Elkins families. She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Carl David Kelly (1930-2012). Shirley Kelly was the daughter of the late Roy K. and Bess Elkins, of Bristol, VA. She was preceded in death by her loving brother, Robert (Bobby) Elkins of Kentucky, and sister, Dorothy Strouth, of Ohio. Shirley is survived by her four children: Debra (Debbie) Squire and her husband, John Squire; Donald (Don) Kelly; Carol Kelly; Robert (Rob) Kelly and his wife, Charlene Kelly. Shirley had one grandchild, Kristin Squire (Snyder) Alfano (husband, Sam Alfano), and three great grandchildren: Jordan Snyder, Hannah Snyder, and Isabella Alfano, along with many nieces and nephews. She also had four step grandchildren: Jonathan, Christopher, and Matthew Barbour and Oren Almond.
During her career, Shirley had been a Chiropractic Assistant and provided soothing, healing therapy for many, many patients. Shirley and her husband were members of Happy Home Baptist Church in Nakina, NC. She loved crocheting and made hundreds of afghans over the years, giving them to many family, friend, and neighbors. Additionally, she made doilies, dish cloths, and tribbles (dish scrubbies), and also shared those among many loved ones as well.
