

Amado Reyes Quintanilla Jr. was born in Malagasang, Imus, Cavite to his parents, Amado Quintanilla Sr. and Gervacia Reyes. He is survived by his wife Julia and his four children, Shirley (Sal), Alicia (Phillip), Amado III (Debbie), and Mark (Francis). He is also survived by his younger brothers Jose, Rolando, and Idiomedes and sister Nenita. Another younger brother Primitivo preceded him in death. His grandchildren include Jaime, Natalie (Matthew), Daniel, Marites, Vania, and great-grandson, Julian.
As the oldest brother, Amado joined the US Navy in the mid 1940’s and served 23.5 years as a steward before retiring as a Chief Petty Officer. He is a veteran of World War II, Korean, and Vietnam War. As a steward in the US Navy, he held positions of great responsibility, including teaching, training, and managing the operations and set up and operations of the CPO Club at the Naval Amphibious Base.
Upon his first retirement, he worked for several years the City of San Diego Park and Recreational Department. After investing in real estate, Amado and his wife Julia operated and managed Motel Villa Mar in Encinitas.
Throughout his life, Amado was active in many community and civic organizations. He served as President of the Imusenian Community Organization, Filipino World War II Veterans Association, and a longtime member of the Al Bahr Shriners. He provided assistance to the Council of Philippine American Organizations while actively supporting Filipino and other political candidates. He was well known for his intellect, leadership and commitment to the Filipino Community.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Dec. 3rd at Glen Abbey Mortuary from 5:00 to 9:00 pm with a vigil service starting at 6:00. A mass will be held on Dec 4th at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Paradise Hills at 10:00, with the burial following at Miramar National Cemetery.
