Antonio P Vera Cruz

Tony was born on August 7, 1954, the fourth son of the late Gaudencio and Esther Vera Cruz in San Juan, Ilocos Sur, Philippines. He attended the University of the East in Manila, Philippines. He held a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and earned a Certified Public Accountant CPA.

In 1977 Tony married Dorotea Tan Gumiran, the love of his life. They welcomed their son Mervyn Gumiran Vera Cruz. The eldest brother Ricardo Padayao Vera Cruz enlisted Tony to work in Ponape then Tony later became an auditor for the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM). Tony moved his family to Ponape then later welcomed their daughter Meilene Gumiran Vera Cruz in 1981. Tony was excited for Mervyn and Meilene to join him and Dottie for a lifetime of adventures. He never stopped planning the adventures they could all have together.

Then in 1989, Tony moved his young family from the comforts of the eastern Caroline Islands to San Diego, California. Tony was always busy – a man in constant motion, but never too busy to share his love of life with those around him. Tony established his family in Chula Vista and around 1998, he brought his dad Gaudencio and through the years brought his brothers and sisters to the United States. It is evident today, the Vera Cruz clan thrives and adapts in California, South Carolina, Micronesia and other parts of the world.

In addition to Dottie, Mervyn and Meilene, Tony is survived by his grandchildren Jhasmyne Mei Vera Cruz Gayoso, Dimitri Robert Vera Cruz, and Delylah Rose Vera Cruz. He is also survived by his ten brothers and three sisters Ricardo, Rafael, Samuel, Manuel, Edward, Gregdon, Octavio, Victorino, Genalin, Corazon, Aurora, Gaudencio Jr. (Dennis) and John Rafael. He was preceded in death by his brother Emerito.

A celebration for Antonio will be held:

• A visitation Thursday, March 10, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Glen Abbey Main Chapel, 3838 Bonita Road, Bonita, CA 91902.

• A visitation Friday, March 11, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, 3838 Bonita Road, Bonita, CA 91902.

• A funeral service will occur Saturday, March 12, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Glen Abbey Chapel of Roses, 3838 Bonita Road, Bonita, CA 91902.

• A graveside service will occur Saturday, March 12, 2022 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Glen Abbey Memorial Park, 3838 Bonita Road, Bonita, CA 91902
