It is with great sadness that the family of Armando Vergara announce his passing. Armando was a devoted and loving husband and father, passed away unexpectedly on June 22, 2023. Armando was born on August 28, 1971, to Ruben and Virginia Vergara.
From an early age, he loved working with his father and helping with the family business and quickly developed a passion for landscape design and eventually opened his own landscape business.
Armando had the ability to connect and make friends with everyone he met. Befriending people was his thing. He always took the time to listen and put others before himself, as a result he made enduring and lifelong friendships which he loved and in turn loved him back. Armando’s kindness and love for meeting, befriending new people and an infectious giving heart will be missed by all.
At the same time he devoted his passion for helping people to a professional career of 38 years of public service with the City of National City and had been recently appointed City Manager. Family always came first. Armando placed others in front of himself. After completing the police explorer program, Armando enrolled into the police academy with the desire to join the National City Police Department. While in the academy, Armando’s family business was in need of his help. Armando placed his professional career to the side to help his family. This epitomized Armando. He valued family above his work. Although Armando would rise to the title of City Manager, he much preferred the title of friend, father, and husband. We lost a great man.
He will be lovingly remember by his wife Jeanet of 16 years, son Tony and daughter Julie: mother Virginia Vergara and siblings, as well as family and friends. You can ask anyone and they would tell you that Armando had an unwavering, awe inspiring devotion and love for his family.
