

Everyone’s life is the sum total of all of the people they have met, the things they have done, the places they have gone. Bernabe was no exception. He was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew him best, Bernabe will be remembered as an exceptional person.
Bernabe’s life journey began on June 2, 1932. He first greeted the world in Batangas, Philippines. His parents' were Bernabe V. Martinez, Sr. and Aconcha V. Villanueva. He was raised with three sisters, Adoracion, Socorro and Remedios. Bernabe was usually involved in all sorts of activities with his family sharing many life experiences over the years.
Falling in love is a huge milestone for any person. Just knowing that you have met that special someone is a magical feeling. Bernabe experienced that with Natividad C. Ponferrada and the couple exchanged wedding vows on January 13, 1955 thru Civil Court. The Church wedding took place at Tondo Catholic Church on March 12, 1955 in Manila, Philippines. Empathic and loyal, Bernabe was committed to making his new family happy.
While everything a person does in life contributes to who they grow into, it is ultimately this same person who holds the most influence on the next generation. Bernabe was blessed with 4 children, Ma.Luisa, Luis, Luz and Rolando. Bernabe worked hard to be a good father to his children and he did his best to fulfill their needs, raising his children in a positive and nurturing environment. Later on, Bernabe was blessed with the gift 5 grandchildren, Anthony, Andrew, Mike, Chula and Christopher.
How a person performs in the workplace can be a reflection on how they live their life. Fortunately, Bernabe enjoyed what he did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Bernabe worked diligently and did his best to succeed in his career. Bernabe worked as an Auditor. He was also an Accounting Supervisor for the County of San Diego Department of Social Services.
A person's hobbies often mirror who they have become. Bernabe enjoyed his leisure time by taking part in a number of different activities, including fishing, drinking, going out with friends and to the parks with his family.
Bernabe V. Martinez, Jr. left us on October 24, 2014. The cause of death was due to a Myocardial Infarction and Congestive Heart Failure. He is survived by his wife Natividad and daughters Ma. Luisa, Luz and his sons, Luis and Rolando. Services were handled by Glen Abbey Mortuary. Viewing services were Thursday, October 30, 2014. A Funeral Mass was held on Friday, October 31, 2014 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Bonita, California. Bernabe was laid to rest at Glen Abbey Memorial Park in Bonita, California.
So this is Bernabe’s life, the sum of the man that he became. Simply stated, Bernabe was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being caring and giving, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Bernabe leaves behind him a legacy of lifelong friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life Bernabe V. Martinez, Jr. touched will always remember him with a smile.
