Bonnie was born June 24, 1936, in San Diego, California, to the late Bernard and Margaret Bernes, and lived most of her life in California, primarily in Modesto and Hughson, California, before returning to Southern California in recent years.
As a girl and young woman, Bonnie had a great love of horses. She often spoke of rides she and her sisters took from their home in Chula Vista to the beaches, spending all day out riding. As an English-style rider, she won many ribbons and trophies for show jumping.
Bonnie was a devoted mother who worked hard to raise her sons. After high school, Bonnie worked various jobs, including dental assistant, bank teller, waitress and bartender. In her thirties, she returned to school while raising her sons to earn an AA in psychology from Modesto Junior College and began work as a drug and alcohol dependency counselor.
Bonnie was adventurous, curious, and optimistic. Even when afraid, she pushed herself to try new experiences. While at Modesto Junior College, she discovered a love of writing and won first prize in a short story competition. Later, while living in British Columbia, she learned to fly small planes and floatplanes, surprising her husband with her certification. She also had a great interest in her French heritage. She went to Paris alone to study French and took several trips to France to connect with French cousins.
Bonnie’s greatest joy was her Christian faith, which she studied and practiced carefully. She considered her beliefs in all of her actions, and she was known by all who met her for her loving and kind nature.
Bonnie is survived by her husband, Paul Parton, her ex-husband Clifford Fox, her son, Wade Fox, and her two sisters, Marilyn Wegner and Adrienne Bock. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Tonya Fox, Caleb Fox, and Fiona Fox, two great-grandchildren, Jaden Pierce and Tyler Pierce, and a niece, Laura Kaino, and nephew, Robert Young.
She is preceded in death by her former husband Cloyd Angle, and by her son, Ronald Fox.
A memorial service will be held on June 23, 2018, at 10 am, at the Chapel of the Roses at Glen Abbey Memorial Park, in Bonita, California.
