

Everyone’s life is the sum total of all of the people they have met, the things they have done, the places they have gone. Brigida L. Perez was no exception. She was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew her best, Brigida will be remembered as an exceptional person.
Brigida’s life journey began on August 13, 1927. She first greeted the world in Agana, Guam. Her parents' were Jose Guerrero and Ana Cruz Lujan. She was raised in the city of Sinajana, Guam with brothers Jesus, Joe and Frank Lujan and sister Gloria Lujan Flores. Brigida was usually involved in all sorts of activities with her family sharing many life experiences over the years.
Falling in love is a huge milestone for any person. Just knowing that you have met that special someone is a magical feeling. Brigida experienced that with Juan Talavera Perez and the couple exchanged wedding vows in Hawaii on October 5, 1959. Empathic and loyal, Brigida was committed to making her new family happy.
While everything a person does in life contributes to who they grow into, it is ultimately this same person who holds the most influence on the next generation. Brigida was blessed with 5 children Jeannette L., Therese Ann, Sandra Lee, Norma Jean and Melissa Mae Perez. Brigida worked hard to be a good mother to her children and she did her best to fulfill their needs, raising her children in a positive and nurturing environment. Later on, Brigida was blessed with the gift 16 grandchildren and 7 great- grandchildren.
How a person performs in the workplace can be a reflection on how they live their life. Fortunately, Brigida enjoyed what she did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Brigida worked diligently and did her best to succeed in each of her career. Brigida served in the United States Navy from March 20, 1953 through May 10, 1956. She is credited as the first woman in Guam to join the United States Navy. Shortly after her naval service she began her career as a Department of Defense employee until she retired after 30+ years.
A person's hobbies often mirror who they have become. Brigida enjoyed her leisure time by taking part in a number of different activities, including Fiestas, Party’s with the Chamorro Community and playing cards.
Brigida L. Perez left us on February 8, 2013. She passed away in San Diego, California. The cause of death was due to natural causes. She is survived by daughters:
-Jeanette L. Perez and husband Ron Salas Charfauros and their two children Jessica Ana Lujan Perez and Jason Andrew Perez and his wife Jill San Miguel and their grandchildren Jia San Miguel Perez and Jason San Miguel Perez Jr..
-Therese Ann Lujan Perez and her six children Anthony John Perez Quintanilla and his wife Nicole Quintanilla, her grandchildren Destiny Ann and Anthony John Perez Quintanilla Jr., her daughters, SSGT Tanisha Perez Quintanilla and Tavena Perez Quintanilla, and her sons Brian Jose Perez, Bruce Perez Quintanilla and Austin Jake Perez Quintanilla.
-Sandra Lee Perez and husband Ed Bentley and their two children, Ian and Kyle Bentley, step-daughter Tiffini Bentley and their grandchild Buster Underwood, IV.
-Norma Jean Perez and her two children Alyssa Marie Lujan Perez and Nicholas Lamont Perez Hubbard and her grandbaby NahlaJade Lujan Gates.
-Melissa Mae Perez and her two children ChristaLynn Perez and Armando Casarez, Jr. and her grandbaby John Alexander Isaiah Perez.
Services were handled by Glen Abbey Mortuary. A Funeral Mass was held at St. Anthony of Padua in National City, California on Thursday February 14, 2013. Brigida was laid to rest at Glen Abbey Memorial Park in Bonita, California.
So this is Brigida’s life, the sum of the woman that she became. Simply stated, Brigida was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by her family and friends as being caring and giving, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Brigida leaves behind her a legacy of lifelong friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life Brigida L. Perez touched will always remember her with a smile.
