

Rev. Carl Raymond Schneider, 96, was the last of 10 children born September 13, 1928 in Snyder, NE to Mathilda and Carl Julius Schneider. He was baptized and confirmed at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Snyder. He attended grade school and 2 years of high school in Snyder and then graduated from Ft. Collins, Colorado High School. He graduated from Midland Lutheran College, Fremont, NE, in 1953. He then attended Central Lutheran Seminary in Fremont (it is now Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago). He graduated in 1956 with a Bachelor of Divinity. He was ordained in the Lutheran Ministry on February 24, 1957 in Snyder, NE.
Carl married Donna Walter on June 19, 1955 at the church where he interned in Salina KS. They praised 3 children. Gary Carl, Kathleen Elaine Tuck (David) and Karen Ruth Duran (Rick, deceased) who survive him plus beloved Malaysian "daughter", Teresa Chai who is now with Jesus. They also have 3 grandchildren , Heidi Wardell (Jeremy), Ben Tuck (Julie), and Bryce Tuck (Tiann), and 4 great grandchildren.
Carl and Donna served 4 years at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Lynn, KS, and also served at Zion Augustana Lutheran Church of Brantford, KS, for 2 of the 4 years. From there, they moved and served at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Pilger, NE with St. Luke's, Stanton, NE for 4 1/2 years. A move to El Dorado Hills, CA was next, where he was a Mission Developer at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church. He was called to serve 11 years at Mt. Cross in Payson, AZ, and built a church after worshipping in a House Chapel. They then moved to Hanford,CA where he served 8 1/2 years. In later years, they moved to San Diego where he did post graduate work at Sharp Memorial Hospital and then was employed as chaplain at Care Unit Drug and Alcohol rehab. He later served as a Hospice chaplain.
He was Visitation Pastor at the beloved St. Timothy Church with Pastor Dan Hill for 24 years. In retirement but enjoying Ministry too and always found it a joy to share the Gospel and see it bear fruit in listeners' hearts. A meaningful Ministry of over 59 years! As the last 4 years in Paradise Village Assisted Living, he held Bible study twice a month, and later monthly.

A Celebration of Life service for Carl will be held Saturday, July 12, 2025, 10:00 a.m. at St. Timothy Lutheran Church, 2602 Reo Drive, San Diego, CA. Interment will follow at Glen Abbey Memorial Park, 3838 Bonita Rd. in Bonita, CA.
The family requests memorial gifts be made to St. Timothy Lutheran Church or Alzheimer's/San Diego.
