In November 1969, Perry landed in San Diego California to live his brother, Frank and wife Barbara. When Frank and family was stationed in Guam, Perry went to Chicago Illinois to live with relatives. He worked at a small community hospital where he met Sally. Perry and Sally were married on January 30, 1971. Nine months later, their daughter Joyce was born. In December 1974, their son, Joel, was born. In 1976, the Machitar Family moved to San Diego. Perry worked for General Dynamics for almost twenty years before ‘retiring’ when GD shut down.
Perry loved to dance, be the life of the party, pass out dollar bills like he was Santa Clause on holidays, watch sports, bet on sports, watch his grandchildren play sports, go to the casinos, keep his garage clean enough that you could eat off the floor and most of all, drive to all of the different casinos that had free gifts waiting for him. Perry even won a Ford Mustang from Sycuan back in 1995. Perry loved entertaining and would often be seen hanging out in his garage sharing a beer with his neighbors.
Perry loved his family . . . whether it was his brothers and sisters, or his hundredish nieces or nephews, or grandnieces and grandnephews, and the many who share the name Machitar in some way.
He is survived by his wife, Sally, of 53 years, his daughter Joyce, his son Joel, his son in law Joe, his grandson Paul and his granddaughter Jocelynn.
