Connie was born June 15th, 1946, in Brooklyn, New York, to Frank and Patricia Cusumano, and grew up in Flushing, Queens, NY. In 1970, Connie met Stephen Grebenstein while on vacation in San Diego. It was love at first sight for both, and they were married later that year on Nov 28th. Connie and Steve went on to have two children, Jennifer and Patricia.
Connie was a longtime volunteer at Lemon Ave Elementary school and was presented with the City of La Mesa’s Rose Award, for her service. She also worked as an assistant to the director of Elder Law and Advocacy. But most importantly, she was a loving wife, a best friend, an awesome grandmother, and a mother to all who met her. Connie was an incredible listener, always gave the best advice, and lived her life with integrity and compassion. Many met Connie; few forgot her.
Connie is survived by her husband, Steve Grebenstein; daughter Jennifer Berry (Kevin Fallis) of San Diego, CA; daughter Patricia Grebenstein of Minneapolis, MN; two grandsons Trey Henry of Palmdale, CA and Darian Berry of San Diego, CA, and an abundance of friends. Connie was predeceased by her father, mother, and brother Anthony Cusumano.
A visitation will occur on Monday, April 24th, at 9:00am, followed by a service at 11:00am at Glen Abby Memorial Park and Mortuary, at the Chapel of the Roses, 3838 Bonita Road, Bonita, CA. Connie will be interred at Miramar National Cemetery, beginning at 1:15pm that day.
Family, friends, and associates are welcome to attend.
Connie requested that no one wear black. Instead, please wear bright, cheery colors in celebration of her life.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.glenabbeysandiego.net for the Grebenstein family.
