

Our beloved Cresenciano “Cris” V. Marquez passed away peacefully at his home in Chula Vista, CA on August 6, 2018. He was age 85 when he suffered from stroke complications. He was born in Delores, Quezon, Philippines to Raymundo Marquez and Felisa Villapando on May 5, 1933.
Cris studied at Far Eastern University (Manila). He joined the U.S. Navy in Sangley Point Cavite City and proudly served his country for 20 years (1957-1977). In addition, he attended National University and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Psychology. Afterwards, he provided public service to the Veterans Administration in San Diego for another 20 years (1977-1998).
He married Ida Trias on October 14, 1966 in Manila, Philippines. They were married for 52 years temporarily living in Japan and settling in California. He is survived by his wife Ida Marquez; sons Marvin and Patrick Marquez; and daughter Christine M. Simon. He has six grandchildren Jordan, Taylor, Sean Marquez, Alanna, Keira and Noah Simon. He has one great grandchild Ethan James. All his siblings residing in the USA include brothers Paulino Marquez (predeceased), Ben and Florencio Marquez with sisters Lourdes M. Milan, Ana Corita Irvine, Lucy Carino, Neneth Garsuzzi and Susan Marquez.
Cris enjoyed cooking, gardening, volunteering and was an avid poker player. After his wife retired, they traveled extensively to different parts of the world such as Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Philippines, South Korea, Japan, Singapore and other Asian countries.
His family and friends will immensely miss Cris. He will be remembered for his kindness, good sense of humor and humbling personality. He was a significant inspiration to his family that some followed his footsteps and joined the US military.
There will be a viewing on Friday August 17, 2018 from 5:00pm - 9:00pm at Glen Abbey Memorial Park & Mortuary, 3838 Bonita Rd., Bonita CA 91902.
On August 18, 2018, there will be a mass at 9:45 a.m. at Corpus Christi in Bonita, CA. The address is 450 Corral Canyon Rd., Bonita CA 91902. Following the mass will be the internment at Glen Abbey Memorial Park & Mortuary.
