

Everyone’s life is the sum total of all of the people they have met, the things they have done, the places they have gone. Crispin Sirot Torres was no exception. He was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew him best, Crispin will be remembered as a very exceptional person.
Crispin’s life journey began on August 17th, 1938. He first greeted the world in the Philippines. His parents' names were Emilio Torres and Magdalena S. Torres. He grew up in Munoz Nueva Ecija, Philippines.
A lot of what shaped Crispin’s life was how he was raised. Crispin was raised with thirteen siblings and he was usually involved in all sorts of activities with his siblings sharing many life experiences over the years.
Crispin was a typical teenager who had a fairly happy high school experience, making that critical transition from adolescence to adulthood. He graduated from Agriculture School. After high school, the next big step in a person’s life is heading off to college. Crispin attended Central Luzon State University and graduated in 1963 with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture.
Falling in love is a huge milestone for any person. Just knowing that you have met that special someone is a magical feeling. Crispin experienced that with Lilly Taylor and they exchanged wedding vows on March 20, 1970. The wedding took place in the Venus Wedding Chapel in Carson City, Nevada.
Empathic and loyal, Crispin was committed to making his new family happy. Crispin and Lilly were blessed with two sons, Crispin E. Torres and Chad E. Torres. He did his best to be a good father and fulfill his children's needs, working hard toward raising his children in a positive and nurturing environment.
Later on, Crispin was blessed with the gift of three grandchildren, Cameryn Jade Torres, Rominel Jay Torres and a on-the-way Baby Torres.
How a person performs in the workplace can be a reflection on how they live their life. Fortunately, Crispin enjoyed what he did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Crispin worked diligently and did his best to succeed in each of his jobs. While he worked several jobs over his life, Crispin primarily worked for 23 years as a Computer systems Operations Supervisor for the United States Navy, he also worked as a civilian contractor for 9 years and a Border Patrol Mission Support Specialist for 4 years. Though Crispin didn’t work for accolades, he was recognized for a job well done.
Crispin served in the United States Navy for 23 years. Crispin achieved the final rank of Chief Petty Officer. He earned several awards recognizing him for his accomplishments, including a National Defense Service Medal, a Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, a Navy Expeditionary Medal, five Good Conduct Awards, a Meritorious Unit Commendation, a Vietnam Service Medal with two stars, a Vietnam Campaign Medal and a Navy Achievement Medal. His fellow soldiers viewed him as a brother in arms and knew that he was as much a part of their family as their loved ones back home.
A person's hobbies often mirror who they have become. Crispin enjoyed his leisure time by taking part in a number of different activities. Crispin was an avid collector of Ford Mustangs and the proud owner of both a 1965 and 1970 Shelby Ford Mustang. Crispin also enjoyed remodeling his home, working his garden and being an active member of the Alpha Phi Omega Service Fraternity. Most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with family and helping others in any way possible. He was usually willing to share his interests with others.
Crispin Torres left us on April 9, 2011. He passed away at his home in San Diego, California. He was 72 years old. The cause of death was brain cancer. He is survived by his wife Lilly Torres and his sons Crispin E. Torres and Chad E. Torres. Services were handled by Glen Abbey Memorial Park and Mortuary. Crispin was laid to rest at Miramar National Cemetery in San Diego, California.
So this is Crispin’s life, the sum of the man that he became. Simply stated, Crispin was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being caring and giving, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Crispin leaves behind him a legacy of lifelong friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life Crispin Sirot Torres touched will always remember him with a smile.
