Edita Ayala Limbag Minas was born on July 25, 1936 in Castillejos, Zambales, Philippines. A beloved sister, wife, mother, and grandmother, Edita Minas passed from this earth one month shy of her 79th birthday on June 25, 2015 in San Diego, CA. She will be deeply missed.
At a young age as the oldest of five siblings, Edita provided guidance and comfort to them in war torn Philippines. Edita graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in English at University of Santo Tomas. Known for her tact and patient demeanor, she started her career as a teacher in the Philippines. She married Salvador V. Minas, then emigrated to and later was naturalized in the United States, and eventually retired from the Office of Admissions at San Diego State University.
One of Edita’s greatest joy and display of love was preparing her delicious dishes for family and friends. She found happiness spending time with her loved ones, completing crossword puzzles, and watching game and cooking shows. As the wife of a retired military, Edita enjoyed time with her husband visiting casinos and traveling to many countries. She was a long standing and active member of the Castillejos Civic Club. Edita will be fondly remembered for her sense of humor, ever present smile, and quick laugh.
A piously faithful woman who lived a life of grace, compassion and kindness, Edita Minas is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Salvador Minas, her son Marvin Minas, daughter Marissa Olivas, son Mark Minas, son-in-law Anthony Olivas, daughter-in-law Melissa Minas, grandchildren Amanda, Madeline, Michael, Melanie and Marcus, brother Rudy Limbag, brother Oscar Limbag, sister Teresita Purugganan, and sister Delia Pantaleon. She was preceded in death by her sister Minda Limbag.
Interment took place on July 9, 2015 at Glen Abbey Mortuary in Bonita, CA.
