September 3, 1944 – December 15, 2025
Command Master Chief Enrique Taylan Ramos, U.S. Navy (Ret.) of San Diego, California, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, cousin, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2025, at the age of 81 after 30 years of dedicated service to his country and retiring in 1994. Born on September 3, 1944, in La Paz, San Narciso, Zambales, Philippines, to Mariano Tadena Ramos and Teodora Taylan Ramos, Enrique showed early promise in academics, attending La Paz Elementary School, Araullo High School in Manila and Mapua Institute of Technology majoring in Electrical Engineering. In 1964, Enrique answered the call to service and joined the U.S. Navy as a steward and eventually becoming an electrician’s mate. Enrique lived a life defined by service, devotion, and an extraordinary capacity for love.
Enrique, a proud veteran of the United States Navy, served a remarkable 30-year career which included tours during the Vietnam and Persian Gulf Wars. He approached every responsibility and challenge—large and small—with unwavering dedication, always giving 110% of himself. Enrique rose to the esteemed position of Command Master Chief, guiding and mentoring countless sailors with integrity, wisdom, and compassion. His leadership, discipline, and generous spirit earned him the respect and admiration of all who served alongside him.

A deeply affectionate, devoted and family‑oriented man, he found his greatest joy in moments spent with those he loved. He was the cornerstone of the Ramos Family and the favorite uncle. He enjoyed spending time with children who were naturally drawn to his kindness and playful heart. He can make everyone in a room smile and laugh with his fun-loving presence. He delighted in organizing social gatherings, most notably coordinating the first-ever Ramos Family Reunion in San Diego County—an event that brought generations together and created memories that will endure for decades to come.
Enrique was a man of many talents. He was known as the family’s skilled handyman who was always helpful in fixing what was broken. His passions were as vibrant as his spirit. He enjoyed photography, capturing life’s best moments and scenery all around him. He loved listening to music, singing, playing his guitar and dancing. He also enjoyed fishing, gardening, and traveling. His generosity extended far beyond his family. He shared his time, talents, and affection freely with all those who are fortunate enough to know him. His spirit was boundless.
Those left to cherish his memory include his devoted wife of 54 years, Librada Opelanio Ramos; his beloved children, Lorelei R. Baptista (David), Jennifer O. Ramos, Frederick O. Ramos (Sheela); and his cherished grandchildren, Faith Angelina R. Baptista, Emiteria Monique R. Ramos and step-granddaughter Akina R. Andal (John).
