July 20, 1955 - September 16, 2019
Guillermo “Memo” Barrios, Jr, 64 returned to his heavenly home on September 16, 2019. His love of his family and his firm belief in God supported him throughout his illness and ultimately gave him comfort and peace.
He was born to his late father Guillermo C. Barrios, and is survived by his mother Antonia Correa de Barrios, who taught him that love of God and family always come first, and that’s what he lived by. His dedication and love of his family was evident to all who knew him well.
Guillermo is survived by his loving wife Margarita; his daughters Angelica and Nadia; son-in-law Michael; and his greatest loves- his grandchildren Isabella, Valentina, Michael, and Aidan. He is also survived by his siblings Sylvia (Fred), Arturo (Mirna), and Gloria (Francisco); and nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
The love of his country also called Guillermo to join the Army right after graduating from Morse High School in 1974 and served until 1982. He was stationed in Germany and Hawaii throughout his service. Most importantly, the Army allowed him to venture to many countries, serve honorably, and thus began a love of travel. Upon his honorable discharge he returned to Germany a couple of times, but his heart and his love for Hawaii could not be contained. Guillermo and his family visited Hawaii countless times, making it a favorite destination for his children and grandchildren through the years.
Guillermo was blessed with a large and loving family. He married the love of his life, and settled down to being a wonderful and hard-working husband, loving grandfather, and to also be one of the right-hand supports for his mother Antonia, after his father’s passing.
To all who knew him well, especially his family, knew of his seriousness, but at the same time of his wit, dry sarcasm, and humor. He was the one grandchildren, nieces and nephews gravitated towards, and that made the entire family laugh. Guillermo will forever be in our hearts.
