James "Jimmy" Robert Downs

Jimmy will be missed by so many, his loving family and his longtime friends.

Jimmy was the son of Jim and Dale Downs. His father passed on December 5, 2008. He leaves behind his older brother Jeff and his wife Sharon, his younger brother Randy and his sister Julie Akers. He leaves behind his greatest love, his only child Dustin James. He was also uncle to Randi Lynn Downs Herrera, Kevin Downs, Jordan Akers and Jared Akers. Jimmy was also a father figure for his son, Dustin’s two brothers Taylor and Christian Cate.

Jimmy worked as a Plumber for many years along with his Uncle Kenny Johnson! Jimmy had many adventures rafting on the Colorado River and riding on his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He did not know a stranger and was always willing to give a “helping hand” to anyone who needed it!

All during his youth, Jimmy played Little League baseball and Pop Warner football. He also played football for his high school team the “Lancers” at Hilltop High in Chula Vista. He also helped coach his son, Dustin’s football team.

Jimmy will be missed so much by his son, Dustin who was with him every day as he fought his battle with Cancer, his loving family, his friends and me his “Mom”.
