

Joaquin German Monge passed away on Sunday August 22, 2021 at the age of 97 years old, surrounded by his family. Joaquin was a loving, hard working provider for his family. He resided in San Diego, CA in the home that he built. He leaves behind his wife Celia Monge, and their children Odette Dials, Jeanette Whitney and Hector Monge. As well as daughter Virginia Monge from his first marriage. He also leaves behind 17 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Joaquin was an immigrant from Costa Rica, and during War World II he served as an American Merchant Marine. He was so proud to have served his country. After serving, he became a commercial tuna fisherman then became an electrician. On August 13, 2021 he received his 60 year pin from the Brotherhood of Electricians "I.B.E.W 569". The last day he worked was the day before his 80th birthday. Joaquin loved old cars, gardening, and giving business and career advice.
His grandchildren will forever cherish the wise words of their Grandpa: "Quieres pow pow?" - "Suri suri guto!" - "King Kong means big monkey, in Chinese!" - "No corren en la casa!" - "Ugh HUH!!" - "You did it again!!!" - "Carajo!" -"Its hard to make money but harder to save"
