John Edward Foreman (86) passed away peacefully in his home in San Diego, CA on August 6th, 2019 while in the loving care of his partner during the last 15 years, Mila Martin.
John was born in New Waterford, Ohio on June 25th, 1933 to Henry and Freda Foreman.
He is survived by his brother, Robert Foreman of East Palestine, Ohio as well as his daughter, Denise Jenkins and son, Mark Foreman, both of San Diego, CA. John is survived by 8 of his 9 grandchildren; Andy Goddard, Angela Hutchins, Matthew Foreman, Kevin Jones and Thomas Jones, his adopted grandson Timothy Foreman , step grandson Casey Jenkins and honorary granddaughter Yasuyo Kojima Fujiwara. He is survived by his 12 great grandchildren; Alexandra and Berkley Hutchins (Vermont); Rylan, Rachel, Dylan and Delany Goddard (California); Francheska and Sofia Jones (Colorado); Landon and Viviana Foreman (Arizona) and honorary great grandchildren Caren and SouSou Fujiwara ( Japan).
John was a graduate of the Class of ‘51 of East Palestine High School.
He proudly served in the US NAVY during the Vietnam War as a Fire Control Technician as well as testing and developing missile systems. Early in his Navy career he served aboard the USS Noa and was onboard when the ship retrieved the space capsule that brought John Glen back to Earth after his historical orbit of the Earth in 1962. John’s interest in space and engineering continued after his Navy retirement, he worked as a reliability engineer during the design of the Hubbell Telescope.
After retirement from both the Navy and the civilian work force, John became an evangelical minister. He performed many weddings including the wedding ceremonies of his grandchildren. This ministry lead him to volunteer time at Las Colinas Detention and Reentry offering Christian mentoring to the inmates through various outreach programs.
John was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Freda as well as his brothers Bill and Jerry Foreman. Beloved adopted grandson Anthony Foreman preceded John in passing away. John was widowed at the time of his passing (wives Joan and Stella preceded him).
John will be laid to rest with Military Honors at Miramar National Cemetery in San Diego, CA on September 10th, 2019. The family will have a private ceremony.

A special thank you to John’s beloved sister-in-law Norma Foreman for always coordinating between his Ohio and California families.
