Jose Perez Pangelinan

Jose Perez Pangelinan (Joe), a loving husband, father, relative and friend, passed peacefully on to our Lord on Good Friday, April 18, 2025. He was born on July 11, 1937 on Guam to Manuel and Tomasa Pangelinan (familian Kotla). Joe will always be remembered as a devoted family man and a kind and humble person. He always gave lovingly and joyfully to everyone he met.

In addition to his utmost passion for supporting his wife Becky and their family, Joe proudly and honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy for 26 years, then dedicated another 10 years to government service. He was known for his outstanding skills on the golf course and loved playing with his family and friends. Joe was also a dedicated member of the Sons and Daughters of Guam Club where he served on the board for many years, and still contributed to the Club’s efforts up until the last few months. As faithful, lifetime members of the Club, you could assuredly find Joe and his wife Becky on the dance floor for many Club fundraisers, fiestas and other gatherings.

Joe is survived by his loving wife, Becky, his children AnneMarie P. Gumataotao, son-in-law Pete Gumataotao, and Angela Mae. He was also a cherished grandfather to Kailani Angeline (Kai) and Peter Justin Gumataotao. Joe is preceded in death by his son, Joseph Paul Pangelinan.

Visitation for Joe will be held on May 12, 2025, 5:00-9:00 PM at Glen Abbey Memorial Park in Bonita. His funeral Mass will be held on May 13, 2025 at 10:00 AM at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and burial will follow at Glen Abbey. A reception at the Chula Vista Golf Course will be held after the burial.

Serving as pallbearers are Pete and Peter Gumataotao, Priestly Paulino San Nicolas, Jason San Nicolas, Michael Groff, and Jerry Mendiola.

Joe will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love and kindness, dedication to God and his family, and daily priority to live life to the fullest, will live on in our hearts forever.
