

Josefina Miguelino Arayata, age 76 of Chula Vista, CA, passed away on Saturday, August 23, 2014. She was born to the late Jose Miguelino Sr and Paz Nazareno Miguelino on August 16, 1938 in Naic Cavite, Philippines.
Josefina attended Manila Central University where she earned her medical degree in 1962. She practiced in the Philippines for several years before immigrating to the United States with her family. In 1968, Josefina married the love of her life Romeo R. Arayata and they moved to Chula Vista, CA where she raised her three children and cared for her parents, Jose and Paz.
Josefina was a breast cancer survivor and has volunteered for the American Cancer Society for over 20 years. Josie loved helping others, spending time with her family and friends, taking vacations with her loved ones and gardening, often times proudly showing off her collection of orchids. Josefina was also a very talented pianist who often played the piano without sheet music.
She is survived by her husband Romeo R. Arayata of Chula Vista, CA; three children, Marissa (Mark) Royer of San Diego, Ronald Arayata of Oceanside, and Melinda (Obrian) Datugan of Chula Vista; two grandchildren, Wyatt Joshua Royer and Elias Arayata Datugan; her sister Pacita (Felix) Gonzaga of Daly City, CA, her brother, Dr. Enrico (Udang) Miguelino of Chula Vista, CA, her sister Sonita (Bobby) Coronel of Concord, CA and her sister Lydia (Gelacio) Pangilinan of Concord, CA and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Jose Miguelino Sr, her mother Paz Nazareno Miguelino, and brother Jose Miguelino Jr.
